Al Horford scored 24 points and Josh Smith added 23 as visiting Atlanta edged Milwaukee for the second time this week.

Devin Harris scored 16 points and Jeff Teague collected 14 and eight assists for the Hawks, who moved a full game ahead of idle Chicago for the No. 5 spot in the Eastern Conference.

Atlanta held an 87-81 lead after Teague’s layup with 5:52 left before the Bucks began to fight back. J.J. Redick knocked down a 3-pointer to spark a run and Ellis connected from beyond the arc on three straight possessions to cap the 16-5 burst and put Milwaukee on top 97-92 with 2:45 left.

Smith ended that run with a steal and a layup and scored again off Teague’s feed with 33 seconds left to knot it at 99. Ellis turned it over on the ensuing possession and the Hawks went 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the final 22 seconds to close it out.
