Kings 119, Bobcats 83: John Salmons hit four of his five 3-pointers in an explosive third quarter and finished with 22 points as Sacramento demolished visiting Charlotte.

Jason Thompson added 18 points and 14 rebounds and Marcus Thornton scored 18 off the bench for the Kings, who set a season high for points in a quarter with 43 in the third and improved to 15-13 at home.

Byron Mullens and Gerald Henderson scored 12 points apiece as the Bobcats suffered their sixth straight loss. Charlotte has been outscored by an average of 29.3 points in the first three games of its four-game road trip.

The Bobcats were tied at the end of the first quarter and were within 38-37 with five minutes left in the second when Sacramento began to take off. Thornton, Salmons and Tyreke Evans each hit a 3-pointer and Charlotte was held without a field goal during a 16-3 run to close the half.

Things got out of hand in the third as the Kings scored the first 10 points and stretched it out to 69-42 on Isaiah Thomas’ 3-pointer with 8:30 left. Salmons took over with 19 points during a 26-4 burst that pushed the lead over 40 points before the end of the period.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kings F Cole Aldrich, who was acquired from the Houston Rockets at the trade deadline, made his team debut in the fourth quarter. … Sacramento F Chuck Hayes grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds off the bench and the Kings dominated the glass 60-31. … Charlotte went 6-for-23 from 3-point range in dropping to 6-24 on the road.
