Pistons 96, Wizards 95:
Brandon Knight scored 32 points in his return to the lineup and Greg Monroe added 26 points and 11 rebounds as visiting Detroit held on to beat Washington for the sixth consecutive time.

Jose Calderon dished out 18 assists and rookie Kim English scored 10 points off the bench for the Pistons, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Trevor Ariza scred 22 points, Bradley Beal added 16 and Emeka Okafor chipped in 15 for the Wizards, who had a three-game win streak snapped and lost for just the third time in 13 home games.

Washington improbably had a chance to win it at the end after trailing 96-87 with 1:06 left. Ariza hit a pair of 3-pointers and drew a clear path foul after a steal to give the Wizards a chance. He made both free throws to get it within 96-95, but his jumper from the baseline at the buzzer came up short.

Knight, who missed the previous three games with a right knee injury, was 11-for-18 from the floor and 5-for-6 from 3-point range. He scored 10 points in the third quarter, during which the Pistons outscored the Wizards 31-13 to take control.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Wizards' television announcers were fooled by Ariza's shot at the buzzer, which hit nothing but the outside of the net, and reacted as if Washington had won the game. … Washington dropped to 5-3 when John Wall and Beal start in the backcourt together and lost for just the third time in the last 12 games when Beal has scored at least 15 points. … Detroit improved to 8-19 on the road.
