Knicks 100, Spurs 83: Carmelo Anthony scored 23 points and host New York broke open the game at the outset of the fourth quarter to snap San Antonio's seven-game winning streak.

J.R. Smith added 20 points and Steve Novak chipped in 15 as the Knicks avoided a season-high third straight loss and beat the weary Spurs for the second time in as many meetings this season.

Gary Neal scored 12 points while Tim Duncan and Tony Parker had 11 apiece for San Antonio, which was playing for the fourth time in five nights and showed little spark after averaging 111.7 points during its winning streak.

New York started to assume control in the latter stages of the third quarter, using a 13-5 run to move ahead by double digits before taking a 67-60 lead into the final 12 minutes.

The Knicks erupted out of the gate in the fourth, scoring 10 points in the first 97 seconds to push the advantage to 77-60 on one of Novak's five 3-pointers. Novak connected again from behind the arc less than a minute later to make it 92-72 with 9 1/2 minutes to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Spurs F Stephen Jackson left the game left in the first quarter with a sprained right ankle in a freak accident. Jackson was stepping back from a 3-point attempt from the left corner when he tripped over a waitress who was serving a drink to New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. ... Knicks G Iman Shumpert, who is recovering from surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament sustained in last season's playoffs, has been cleared for minor contact in individual drills. ... Duncan blocked two shots and has at least one rejection in 21 straight games, the longest active streak in the league.
