Knicks 121, Pistons 100: Carmelo Anthony scored 21 of his 29 points in the first half and Steve Novak drilled five of his team's 17 3-pointers off the bench as host New York snapped a modest two-game losing skid.

Anthony made his first six shots from the field as the Knicks scored a season-high 64 points in the first half. Anthony cooled down after halftime but Novak finished with 18 points as New York improved to 5-0 at Madison Square Garden.

Brandon Knight had 21 points and Greg Monroe added 12 as he set a pair of personal milestones. Monroe passed the 2,000-point plateau with a free throw in the third quarter before recording his 200th steal after intercepting a pass from Anthony later in the stanza.

After yielding a season-high 131 points in a loss to Dallas on Friday, New York upped its intensity on the defensive end versus Detroit. Veteran Jason Kidd had three of his team's eight steals in the first half.

Detroit started the second half on an 13-3 run to trim the deficit to 10 at 67-57, but New York went on a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Former Piston Rasheed Wallace scored a season-high 15 points in his return from a one-game absence due to a sore left foot. He fouled out in the final minute of the contest. ... Detroit's Charlie Villanueva came off the bench to score 14 of his 17 points in the fourth quarter. ... Novak, who attended Marquette, heard some boos when he told a sideline reporter, "Go Packers," after the contest. Green Bay was facing the New York Giants later on Sunday.
