MAGIC 102, BOBCATS 95: J.J. Redick scored a career-high 31 points and Ryan Anderson had 24 points and 13 rebounds as host Orlando handed woeful Charlotte its 22nd consecutive defeat.

Jason Richardson added 17 points and nine rebounds as the Magic snapped a three-game losing skid and clinched the sixth seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs.

D.J. Augustin scored 23 points, Gerald Henderson tallied 17 and Derrick Brown added 16 for the Bobcats, who need a victory over the New York Knicks in Thursday’s finale to avoid setting an NBA record for futility.

Charlotte (7-58) has a winning percentage of .108 and must beat the Knicks to keep from finishing below the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers for the lowest percentage in NBA history. The 76ers had a .110 mark when they went 9-73.

Redick matched his career-high with six 3-pointers as Orlando was 14 of 38 from behind the arc.

The Bobcats trailed by 10 points entering the final quarter and made a run behind Henderson, who scored three consecutive baskets to pull Charlotte within 89-84 with 6:48 to play. A short time later, Redick hit back-to-back 3-pointers to boost Orlando’s lead to 98-86 with 4:28 remaining.

Redick had 16 first-half points to help Orlando to a 57-47 advantage. He had four of the Magic’s 10 first-half 3-pointers.

Charlotte was even at 10 less than 3 1/2 minutes into the contest before the Magic scored nine straight points to start pulling away. The Magic led 37-24 after the opening quarter.
