BULLS 83, PISTONS 71: Luol Deng had 20 points and nine rebounds, and Joakim Noah had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead host Chicago.

Carlos Boozer added 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Bulls defeated the Pistons for the 14th consecutive time.

Brandon Knight scored 16 points, Greg Monroe had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Tayshaun Prince added 14 points for Detroit, which was held below 80 points for the fourth time in five games.

Chicago was once again without reigning MVP Derrick Rose while relying on its defense to hold the Pistons to 36.9 percent shooting from the field. The Bulls limited Detroit to 10 points in both the second and fourth quarters.

The Bulls led 65-61 entering the final quarter and boosted the lead to 12 with eight consecutive points, including five straight by Taj Gibson.

Detroit cut Chicago’s lead to 75-71 on Knight’s 20-footer with 4:48 to play but never scored again as the Bulls closed the contest with eight straight points.

The Pistons hit just 3 of 15 shots in the final quarter.

C.J. Watson added 11 points for Chicago.

Chicago trailed by as many as eight points in the opening quarter before wrapping up the period with a 28-25 lead. The Bulls led 44-35 at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rose (groin) missed his ninth straight game and Chicago is 7-2 during the stretch … The Pistons didn’t shoot any free throws in the first half and were 6 of 7 overall … Chicago had a 53-37 rebounding edge and improved to 16-1 when grabbing 50 or more rebounds … Detroit guards Rodney Stuckey (hamstring) and Ben Gordon (groin) both missed the game.
