Kevin Love scored 30 points and matched a career-high with five 3-pointers as visiting Minnesota snapped a two-game losing skid.

Nikola Pekovic had 24 points and eight rebounds and Derrick Williams had 19 points and eight rebounds as the Timberwolves won the opener of a seven-game road trip.

Jared Dudley scored a season-high 28 points and Steve Nash added 25 points and 10 assists for Phoenix, which lost for only the third time in 10 games.

Luke Ridnour’s driving basket with 1:50 to play put Minnesota ahead for good. Ridnour added two free throws with 17 seconds left prior to Dudley missing a game-tying 3-point attempt with 13 seconds remaining.

Wesley Johnson hit two free throws to give the Timberwolves a five-point lead with 10 seconds left.

Minnesota made a season-high 14 3-pointers to balance out Phoenix’s edge at the free throw line. The Suns hit 23 of 29 attempts from the foul line while the Timberwolves made 13 of 21.

Channing Frye scored 18 points for Phoenix.

Michael Beasley and Wayne Ellington added 15 points apiece for Minnesota.

The Timberwolves led by seven points late in the third quarter before Phoenix rallied to take 105-104 lead on Frye’s 3-pointer with 7:25 remaining. The lead rotated back and forth until Ridnour’s key basket.

The 30-point outing was the 15th of the season for Love, which sets a franchise record. Tony Campbell (14 in 1989-90) held the old mark.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Love moved into second place on Minnesota’s all-time leading rebound list with 3,036, passing Sam Mitchell. … Nash has four consecutive double-doubles. … Ridnour has 19 assists in two games since standout point guard Ricky Rubio suffered a season-ending knee injury. … Frye had four of Phoenix’s nine 3-pointers.
