Danilo Gallinari scored a career-high 37 points in his return to New York and Al Harrington hit the clinching 3-pointer with 46 seconds left in double overtime as the visiting Denver Nuggets defeated the New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony 119-114 on Saturday.

Anthony scored 20 of his 25 points after the third quarter against his former team as the Knicks (6-10) lost their sixth straight game and fourth in a row at Madison Square Garden. He was 10 for 30 from the field and finished with 10 rebounds.

Anthony forced overtime when he hit a jumper while closely guarded with 1.7 seconds left in regulation to make it 98-98.

Anthony, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, played his first seven-plus seasons with Denver before a blockbuster trade involving Gallinari sent him to New York last season.

Harrington scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half as the Nuggets (12-5) won their fourth straight – all on the road. Gallinari added 11 rebounds and was 18 for 20 from the free throw line while Andre Miller had 14 points and 12 assists for Denver.

Miller hit a 30-foot prayer as the shot clock expired to make it 103-103 in the first overtime before Anthony’s jumper in the lane gave the Knicks a 105-103 lead with 1:01 to go. Nene made two free throws with 9.2 seconds left to force the second extra period.

While most of the attention was on Anthony and Gallinari, another player involved in the trade took center stage in the first quarter. Denver’s Timofey Mozgov scored eight of his season-high 16 points as the Nuggets led 25-24 after one period.

Bill Walker scored 13 of the Knicks’ first 15 points of the second quarter to lead them to a 54-46 halftime bulge. Walker finished with 15.
