Vince Carter and Ian Mahinmi each scored 13 points and the Dallas Mavericks defeated visiting New Orleans 96-81 on Saturday night, sending the Hornets to their sixth straight loss.

Dallas rebounded from a 93-71 loss at San Antonio on Thursday. Six players scored in double figures for the Mavericks, who announced before the game that guard Jason Kidd will miss at least the next three games because of a lower back injury.

New Orleans again played without leading scorer Eric Gordon, who is sidelined with a knee injury. Al-Farouq Aminu had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Jarrett Jack added 13 points.

It was another long night for the Hornets, who committed 21 turnovers. New Orleans coach Monty Williams, Jack and Chris Kaman were called for technical fouls.

Jason Terry and Delonte West scored 12 points apiece for the Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki, who was held to six points Thursday, scored 10 points and got into double figures with a basket late in the game.
