Mike Conley led a balanced attack with 15 points as the Memphis Grizzlies routed the visiting San Antonio Spurs 104-86 Monday to take a 3-1 lead in their Western Conference first-round series.

The eighth-seeded Grizzlies suffocated the No. 1-ranked Spurs, limiting them to 36 points in the second half to move within a victory of registering one of the biggest upsets in NBA playoff history. Memphis can wrap up the series with a win in Game 5 Wednesday night in San Antonio.

Memphis had nine players finish with at least eight points. Darrell Arthur had 14, Tony Allen added 12 and Zach Randolph and O.J. Mayo chipped in with 11 apiece.

Tony Parker had 19 of his 23 points in the first half while Manu Ginobili added 14 for the Spurs, who had 17 turnovers.

Down 50-48 at halftime, Memphis stormed out to a 14-0 run to open the second half capped by a Sam Young dunk that prompted Spurs coach Gregg Popovich to call a pair of timeouts in quick succession.

It took San Antonio nearly five minutes to score its first basket of the third quarter, and by that point the Spurs trailed by double digits. The Memphis defense forced the normally composed Spurs into several uncharacteristic turnovers in the quarter, and outscored them 30-15 to take a 13-point advantage into the fourth.

Arthur put an exclamation point on things early in the fourth, blocking a Parker layup attempt before slamming home a Mayo alley-oop pass to give the Grizzlies an 83-67 edge in front of a delirious home crowd. San Antonio conceded defeat shortly after, playing its reserves for the final six minutes.
