Amar’e Stoudemire scored 37 points and had 15 rebounds to lead the New York Knicks over the Pistons 125-116 in double overtime at Detroit Sunday afternoon.

New York blew chances to win the game at the end of regulation and the end of the first overtime but hit three straight 3-pointers to start the second overtime to open up a nine-point deficit and never looked back.

Tayshaun Prince tied the game at the end of regulation with a short jumper and then evened things at the end of the first overtime with a three-point play. He finished with a team-high 31 points.

It was New York’s fifth straight road win.

Raymond Felton hit three straight 3-pointers early in the fourth quarter and the New York erased a five-point lead to take a seven-point advantage with five minutes to play. Felton finished with 23 points and 11 assists.

Prince tied the game at 99 with 20 seconds to go and Danilo Gallinari missed a long 3-pointer that sent the game into overtime.

Tracy McGrady had his best game with the Pistons scoring 13 points in the first half. The Pistons (6-11) went 27-for-28 from the free throw line.

New York played without Ronny Turiaf, who missed the game due to a leg injury.
