Jeff Green reached double figures for the first time since joining the team with 21 off the bench and Rajon Rondo handed out 16 assists for the Celtics (45-15), who shot 53 percent (39 of 73) from the floor.

Monta Ellis' game-high 41 points helped the Warriors (27-34) pull to within one in the fourth quarter after they trailed by as many as 18 in the third.

Boston led 79-61, when Pierce capped an 8-0 run with a layup at the 6:41 mark of the third.

But the Warriors bridged the third and fourth quarters with a 16-4 run that cut it to five, 88-83, with 11 minutes left. The Celtics pushed it back to double digits, 98-87, with 7:30 left but Golden State kept striking, drawing to 100-99 when Ellis hit a 3-pointer at the 3:30 mark.

Pierce scored five straight points and Allen hit a pair of free throws down the stretch to seal it. David Lee added 26 points in the loss.
