Russell Westbrook collected 33 points, nine rebounds and seven assists as Oklahoma City overcame a 20-point deficit and overwhelmed host Phoenix.

D.J. Augustin added 19 points off the bench and Dion Waiters scored 18 for the Thunder, who moved 2 1/2 games ahead of the New Orleans Pelicans in the race for the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference. Steven Adams collected 13 points and 16 rebounds while Anthony Morrow buried three 3-pointers en route to 11 points in a reserve role for Oklahoma City.

Markieff Morris scored 21 of his 24 points in the first half while T.J. Warren added a season-high 18 for the Suns, who fell four games behind the Thunder with eight remaining. Marcus Morris recorded 15 points and nine rebounds while Eric Bledsoe had 15 points and seven assists for Phoenix.

Morrow hit a pair from beyond the arc and Kyle Singler and Augustin added back-to-back 3-pointers in a 13-0 run that turned a one-point deficit into a 95-83 lead with 6:45 left. Augustin’s floating hook shot while falling out of bounds with 1:02 remaining made it 105-93 as the Thunder put it away.

The Suns were in front 35-24 after the first quarter and pushed the lead to 20 on Marcus Morris’ free throw with 6:26 left in the half before Westbrook scored 15 points over the final 5:18 to pull Oklahoma City within 62-54 at the break. The Thunder knotted it at 71 with 5:33 left in the third but settled for a three-point deficit heading to the fourth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Westbrook was hit with his NBA-high 15th technical foul in the first quarter and will earn a one-game suspension for his next. … Suns G Brandon Knight (ankle) returned from an eight-game absence and scored three points on 1-of-10 shooting before tweaking the ankle in the third quarter and sitting on the bench the rest of the night. … Oklahoma City C Enes Kanter had 11 points and nine rebounds, ending a string of eight straight double-doubles.
