Mavericks 105, Jazz 82: Dirk Nowitzki piled up 27 points and 10 rebounds as Dallas solved its third-quarter woes and dominated host Utah.

Tyson Chandler added 15 points and 13 boards while Monta Ellis scored 13 for the Mavericks, who bounced back from a 21-point loss at Portland. Brandan Wright paced the reserves with 12 points and Jameer Nelson added a season-high 10 for Dallas.

Alec Burks scored 14 points and Gordon Hayward added 12 to lead the Jazz, who dropped to 2-4. Trey Burke scored 11 points and Enes Kanter grabbed 10 rebounds but Derrick Favors was held to six points on 2-of-4 shooting in 26 minutes.

The Mavericks, who had been outscored in the third quarter of each previous game this season by a combined 64 points, came out aggressive after the break as Nowitzki’s 3-pointer kicked off a 9-0 run beginning the period. Jameer Nelson’s 3-pointer gave Dallas a 68-51 lead with 4:20 in the third and Nowitzki’s jumper at the buzzer made it a 78-62 gap.

Nowitzki’s 3-pointer capped a 7-0 burst beginning the fourth quarter and stretched the lead to 24 points before the Mavericks cruised to the finish. The Jazz were outscored 53-38 in the second half after going into the break down eight points.
