Knicks 108, Grizzlies 101:
J.R. Smith scored 35 points off the bench as host New York pushed its winning streak to six games by opening up a big lead and holding off Memphis.

Carmelo Anthony added 22 points and Iman Shumpert scored all of his 16 in the first half for the Knicks, who were playing their eighth straight game without center Tyson Chandler (neck).

Mike Conley scored 26 points and Jerryd Bayless added 24 off the bench as the Grizzlies dropped their fifth straight road game. Marc Gasol (abdominal tear) returned to the lineup and recorded 13 points in 36 minutes, but Zach Randolph was held to three points and four rebounds.

New York came out on fire and grabbed a 37-25 lead after the first quarter that stretched to 69-41 at the break. The Knicks shot 61 percent in the first half, with Shumpert’s 6-of-6 performance - including 4-of-4 from 3-point range - and Smith’s 23 points leading the way.

Memphis chipped away in the second half, narrowing the gap to 86-70 after three quarters and whittling the lead down to 103-99 with 33 seconds left after a 13-3 burst. But Raymond Felton, Smith and Anthony combined to hit five free throws in the final 30 seconds to close it out.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Knicks shot 39 percent in the second half. … The Grizzlies have allowed over 100 points in each of their last three games after holding their previous 17 opponents under the century mark. … Memphis G Tony Allen recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
