Warriors 101, Wizards 92: Stephen Curry led all five starters in double figures with 35 points and eight assists as Golden State jumped out early and held off visiting Washington in the end.
David Lee added his NBA-best 47th double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds and Klay Thompson scored 18 for the Warriors, who moved a game ahead of the idle Houston Rockets for the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference.
Cartier Martin had 23 points off the bench and John Wall scored 14 before he was ejected as the Wizards fell short of their first three-game road winning streak of the season.
Washington, which won a tight game at the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday, could not match Golden State’s energy at the start and went the first four minutes without a point. The Warriors pushed it out to as much as 29-14 on Harrison Barnes’ 3-pointer late in the first before settling for a 12-point lead at the end of the period.
Curry, who left midway through the fourth after spraining his troublesome right ankle, scored 13 points in the second quarter and Golden State shot 55.8 percent in the first half to take a 58-40 lead into the break.
The lead stayed at 18 points through three quarters before Washington began to make a run. Martin scored 10 points in the first five minutes of the fourth and Kevin Seraphin’s jumper with 6:41 left drew the Wizards to within 88-80.
But Curry buried another 3-pointer, stole the ball at the other end and hit two free throws to push it back out to a 13-point lead. Golden State did not make a field goal in the final 5:45 but closed it out at the line.
GAME NOTEBOOK: X-rays were negative on Curry, who said he expected to be fine for Monday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Curry is 21-of-38 from 3-point range in the last four games. ... Wizards F Trevor Ariza, who hit a career-high seven 3-pointers in Friday’s win at the Lakers, sat out with the flu. … Washington C Emeka Okafor had missed the previous two games with the flu but returned to the starting lineup and collected seven points and five rebounds in 23 minutes. … Golden State was beginning a stretch of eight of nine at home with the Wizards and will host the Lakers on Monday.
