Grizzlies 96, Clippers 85: Marc Gasol scored 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting as Memphis beat Los Angeles for its sixth straight win and 14th in 15 games.

Tayshaun Prince had 18 points and Mike Conley had 17 points and 11 assists for the Grizzlies, who moved a half-game ahead of the Clippers in the battle for third place in the Western Conference.

Chris Paul had 24 points and nine assists and Blake Griffin scored 22 points for Los Angeles, which scored only 33 second-half points while losing for the fourth time in 14 games.

The Clippers were within 81-78 after a basket by Chauncey Billups with 7:18 to play before the Grizzlies answered with a 9-2 run to push the lead to 10. Los Angeles pulled within seven before Prince scored back-to-back hoops to get the Memphis led back to 11 with 2:31 to play.

The Grizzlies shot 65.6 percent in the first half en route to a 54-52 lead. Memphis used a 9-0 surge early in the third quarter for a 63-54 edge after five straight points by Conley, and increased the lead to 11 before settling for a 75-69 advantage entering the final quarter.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The 27-year-old Paul went over 10,000 points for his career and became the fourth-youngest player to get to 10,000 points and 5,000 assists. Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson and Stephon Marbury are the younger players to reach the milestone. … Conley is averaging 18 points and 10.2 assists over the past five games. … Clippers F Caron Butler (elbow) and backup PG Eric Bledsoe (calf) sat out and reserve G Jamal Crawford had only two points on 1-of-10 shooting after missing the previous four outings with an ankle injury.
