Suns 92, Pistons 89:
Goran Dragic and Marcin Gortat posted double-doubles as Phoenix bounced back from a close loss to Golden State in its season opener with a victory over visiting Detroit.

Gortat totaled 16 points and 16 rebounds, helping the Suns to a dominant 52-39 advantage on the boards, while Dragic had 15 points and 10 assists. Luis Scola scored 11 of his 13 points during the pivotal second period, in which Phoenix trailed by as many as 11 points but rallied to grab a 54-46 lead by halftime.

The Pistons played from behind the entire second half but got as close as 91-89 on Kyle Singler's 3-pointer with 4.2 seconds left. Tayshaun Prince had 18 points for Detroit, leading six Pistons in double figures.

Jason Maxiell posted 16 points, but 13 of those came in the first quarter and he went 1-of-4 from the field the rest of the way.

Phoenix built some positive momentum going into a three-game road trip against teams from the Southeast Division, including a date Monday against defending NBA champion Miami. Detroit, meanwhile, still has five games left on its daunting six-game western road trip.

GAME NOTES: Pistons G Rodney Stuckey scored just one point and is now 1 of 17 from the field through two games. … Rookie C Andre Drummond, Detroit's ninth overall pick in June's NBA draft, had five points, eight rebounds and two blocks in less than 19 minutes of floor time. Fellow Pistons reserves Jonas Jerebko (11 points) and Will Bynum (10) reached double digits. … Suns G Shannon Brown scored 14 points off the bench, contributing 10 straight points for Phoenix in the fourth quarter, and F Michael Beasley amassed 16 points to double his offensive output in the season opener.
