SPURS 124, TRAIL BLAZERS 89: Tim Duncan and Danny Green scored 18 points apiece as host San Antonio clinched the top seed in the Western Conference.

Tony Parker scored 13 points and Gary Neal and Stephen Jackson added 12 points apiece as the Spurs won their eighth consecutive contest while eliminating Oklahoma City from the competition for homecourt advantage in the West.

Wesley Matthews scored 24 points for Portland, which lost its sixth straight game.

The 35-point margin of victory was San Antonio’s largest ever against the Trail Blazers. The previous high of 34 came in a 114-80 win at Portland on Dec. 30, 2004.

San Antonio shot 59.3 percent from the field and drained 12 of 22 3-point attempts. Green hit all six of his shots, including four 3-pointers.

Green opened the game with back-to-back 3-pointers as San Antonio never trailed. The Spurs increased the lead to 27-10 on Neal’s 3-pointer less than 10 minutes into the contest.

San Antonio led 63-41 at halftime and was never threatened in the second half.

J.J. Hickson has 14 points and 10 rebounds and Raymond Felton added 13 points and seven assists for Portland.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
San Antonio recorded a season-best 34 assists. … The Trail Blazers routed the Spurs by 40 points (137-97) earlier this season. … The Spurs are averaging 116.3 points during their winning streak. … Portland forward Nicolas Batum (quadriceps) missed his second consecutive contest.
