HAWKS 103, CAVALIERS 87: Joe Johnson had 28 points and Jeff Teague had 18 as visiting Atlanta handed Cleveland its third straight loss.

The Hawks built a 19-point lead in the third quarter, but the Cavaliers rallied with a 10-0 run late to cut the deficit to eight entering the fourth quarter. Atlanta clamped down on defense, keeping the Cavaliers without a field goal for the first three minutes of the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Johnson had 13 of his 28 in the first quarter and the Hawks shot 51 percent for the game.

Alonzo Gee tied his career high with 20 points and Kyrie Irving had 19 points and 10 assists for the Cavaliers, who were playing their first game since trading backup point guard Ramon Sessions to the Los Angeles Lakers at the trade deadline.

Zaza Pachulia had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Hawks, who won their second straight.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hawks reserve Jannero Pargo was admitted to The Cleveland Clinic and will remain there overnight with a stomach flu. He is questionable for Monday’s game against Boston. … Cavs rookie Tristan Thompson had seven points and six rebounds in his first career start. … These two teams meet again Wednesday in Atlanta.
