Luis Scola had 24 points and eight rebounds and Kevin Martin scored 21 points as the Houston Rockets notched their first victory of the season with a 120-94 rout of the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

Jordan Hill scored 14 points and Yao Ming added 13 points in 17 minutes for the Rockets (1-5).

The loss was the fifth in a row for struggling Minnesota (1-6).

Kevin Love had 16 points and 16 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who also received 15 points from Michael Beasley.

Houston led by 12 points after one quarter and 23 points at halftime.

Martin was 9-of-13 shooting and had two 3-point baskets.

Rockets guard Aaron Brooks missed the contest after injuring an ankle against San Antonio on Saturday.

Yao played Sunday after sitting out the previous night against San Antonio as the Rockets are proceeding cautiously after the center missed all of last season with a foot injury.
