Jason Kidd scored 17 of his 20 points in the third quarter to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 116-100 victory over the visiting Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

Kidd made five 3-point baskets in the quarter as Dallas (39-16) broke the game open over the last six minutes of the period.

Jermaine Taylor scored 17 points for Sacramento (13-40), which lost for the seventh time in eight games.

The game was tied at 70 midway through the quarter before Peja Stojakovic’s basket began a 13-0 run that included two 3-pointers by Kidd. The lead reached 94-74 with 1:10 left on Kidd’s fifth and final 3-pointer of the quarter.

Sacramento began the third quarter with a 22-9 run to rally from a 13-point halftime defecit.

Kidd was 7 of 9 from the field, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range.

Shawn Marion scored 14 points and Dirk Nowitzki and Roddy Beaubois tallied 13 points apiece as the Mavericks had eight players score in double figures. Beaubois made his season debut after being sidelined with a broken foot.

DeMarcus Cousins had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Sacramento. Beno Udrih and Donte Greene also scored 16 points.
