Thaddeus Young scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half as the visiting Philadelphia 76ers built up a big lead and held off the mighty Chicago Bulls 97-85 on Monday.

Andre Iguodala added 19 points, seven assists and seven rebounds, and Elton Brand collected 13 points and nine boards for the 76ers (38-36), who snapped a two-game slide and maintained a two-game edge over the New York Knicks for the No. 6 spot in the East.

Derrick Rose scored 31 points for the Bulls (53-20), who are two games ahead of the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.

Philadelphia took advantage of a sluggish start by Chicago and held the Bulls to 38 percent shooting in the first half to take a 53-37 edge into the break.

The 76ers would stretch it out to as much as 19 points 61-42 when Iguodala and Jrue Holiday hit 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions early in the third.

Chicago closed the third with an 8-0 spurt to cut it to single digits and got within 74-70 early in the fourth before Iguodala made a pair of free throws, and the Bulls never got any closer the rest of the way.
