Suns 102, Trail Blazers 98: Goran Dragic collected 16 points and a career-high 18 assists as visiting Phoenix held off Portland to earn a rare road victory.

Luis Scola added 18 points and Wesley Johnson had 14 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Suns, who improved to 6-23 on the road and ended a four-game slide.

J.J. Hickson recorded 25 points and 16 rebounds, Damian Lillard added 24 points and LaMarcus Aldridge scored 23 as the Trail Blazers suffered their sixth straight setback.

Phoenix held a 90-74 lead after Johnson’s jumper with 9:56 left but would make only one field goal over the next 5:21 as Portland chipped away. Aldridge scored nine points and Lillard’s 3-pointer capped an 18-6 run that pulled the Blazers within 96-92 with 3:57 left.

The Suns stretched it back out to 100-92 but turned the ball over on three straight possessions to let the Blazers creep back within 100-98, the closest it had been since Phoenix led 2-0. But Dragic hit two free throws with 13 seconds left and Portland did not score again.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dragic had four assists in the first 4:12 of the game as the Suns shot out to a 12-0 lead. He had 10 assists in the first quarter alone to help Phoenix to a 36-23 lead after the period. … The Suns snapped a seven-game losing streak at Portland. … Phoenix shot 60 percent from the field in the first half to take a 63-47 lead into the break.
