Manny Pina snapped an eighth-inning tie with his second solo homer of the game to help the host Milwaukee Brewers to a 6-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday night.

Pina, who also homered in the second, opened the eighth with his 12th homer, lining an 0-2 pitch from Scott Effross (2-1) down the left-field line to put Milwaukee up 5-4. The Brewers added another run when Pablo Reyes doubled and came home on Kolten Wong's infield single.

Devin Williams (8-2) struck out three batters in the eighth, and Josh Hader finished for his 33rd save in 34 chances, despite allowing a walk and a single.

Jace Peterson and Eduardo Escobar also had solo homers for Milwaukee (91-57), which remained 12 1/2 games in front of St. Louis in the NL Central. The Cardinals rallied past San Diego 3-2 at home on Saturday. The Brewers also clinched a postseason berth thanks to losses by the Padres and the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Peterson opened the sixth inning with his sixth homer to put Milwaukee up 4-3. Willson Contreras tied it in the seventh with his 20th homer, a two-out solo shot off reliever Brad Boxberger.

Brewers starter Corbin Burnes, who tossed eight innings of a combined no-hitter in his last outing, allowed three runs on six hits in six innings, striking out 11 and walking three, with one hit batter.

Ian Happ put the Cubs in front 3-2 in the fifth with his 23rd homer following a two-out single by Schwindel. The Brewers answered in the bottom half on a double by Christian Yelich and an RBI single by Luis Urias.

Escobar, acquired from Arizona prior to the trade deadline, opened the third inning with his 28th homer, driving a 3-2 pitch 416 feet to left to put the Brewers in front 2-1.

The Cubs loaded the bases with one out in the top of third but managed just one run. Starting pitcher Justin Steele opened with a single to center, his first major league hit, and Rafael Ortega singled to right. After Schwindel struck out, Happ reached on a dribbler to third to load the bases.

Contreras followed with a smash up the middle, but shortstop Urias made a diving stop behind the bag and flipped to Wong for the force at second, with Steele scoring to tie it 1-1. Burnes then struck out Patrick Wisdom.
