Giancarlo Stanton hit a game-ending single to open the 11th inning and the New York Yankees outlasted the Baltimore Orioles for a 4-3 victory Friday night at Yankee Stadium.

DJ LeMahieu hit a game-tying single in the 10th but was stranded at third when Dillon Tate retired Aaron Judge. The Yankees finally won it when Stanton hit a 2-1 sinker up the middle from Tate (0-6) to score Judge from second.

Stanton was mobbed in between first and second shortly after Judge easily beat center fielder Cedric Mullins' throw and slid home. He was doused by water from Brett Gardner in the middle of an on-field interview with the YES Network.

It was Stanton's eighth career walk-off hit and second this season.

Clay Holmes (3-0) stranded two in the 11th to earn the win as the Yankees moved to 49-27 in games decided by two runs or fewer.

The Yankees (78-56) survived a tough challenge from the Orioles (41-92) and faced a 3-2 deficit when Ryan Mountcastle singled in the 10th off Wandy Peralta.

The Yankees won their eighth straight home game and for the 15th time in 19 games but remained 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East.

New York picked up its ninth walk-off win after Tampa Bay completed a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Stanton homered and LeMahieu lifted a sacrifice fly for the Yankees, who did little offensively off John Means.

Trey Mancini and Jorge Mateo homered as the Orioles erased a 2-0 deficit.

New York left-hander Nestor Cortes Jr. continued to pitch well, allowing one run on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. Cortes tied a career high with seven strikeouts, walked two and threw 84 pitches.

Cortes also got a key double play for the first two outs of the sixth. He exited after Mancini hammered a 1-1 fastball into the second deck in left field.

Jonathan Loaisiga allowed his first homer in nearly four months when Mateo lined a 2-2 changeup down the left field line with one out in the seventh. Loaisiga slammed the rosin bag in frustration but ended the seventh quickly.

Means did not allow a hit until Stanton hammered a 2-1 changeup to the loading dock beyond the left-center fence with two outs in the fourth.

Means allowed two runs on three hits in five innings. The left-hander struck out five, walked two and threw 93 pitches.
