Pinch-hitter LaMonte Wade Jr. smacked a two-run, go-ahead home run off Oakland Athletics closer Lou Trivino in the top of the ninth inning Saturday afternoon, sending the visiting San Francisco Giants to a 6-5 victory in the rivalry series.

Wade's homer, his 16th of the season overall and first in 18 pinch-hitting appearances this year, came after Trivino (5-5) had walked Brandon Belt to put the potential tying run aboard in a 5-4 game with one out in the ninth.

Tyler Rogers (4-1), who pitched a 1-2-3 eighth, was credited with the win. Jake McGee retired the A's in order in the ninth for his 27th save.

Wade's homer was the fourth of the day for the Giants, with Kris Bryant, Belt and Darin Ruf having connected earlier, the first three coming with San Francisco behind by at least two runs.

An RBI double by Starling Marte and two-run single by Seth Brown highlighted a three-run first for the A's, who took the upper hand against Giants starter Kevin Gausman and retained it until the ninth.

Bryant hit a two-run home run, his 22nd of the season, in the second to close the gap, before the A's extended their advantage on an RBI double by Josh Harrison in the third and a Gausman wild pitch with the bases loaded in the fourth.

Gausman was pulled one batter later, charged with five runs (just two earned) on six hits in 3 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five.

Down 5-2, the Giants got within one again when Belt and Ruf went back-to-back with their homers with one out in the seventh off Oakland's third pitcher, Andrew Chafin. The homers were Belt's 17th and Ruf's 14th.

A's starter Sean Manaea couldn't finish the fifth, having allowed two runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Brandon Crawford collected two hits, including a double, and Ruf scored twice for the Giants, who avoided what would have been a third straight loss.

Marte had two doubles, scored a run and drove in another, while Sean Murphy added two singles for the A's, who won the series opener 4-1 on Friday and were seeking a third straight victory.
