Shogo Akiyama had a career-high three hits, and the visiting Cincinnati Reds rallied to beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 in Denver on Sunday.

Sean Doolittle (3-0) pitched the eighth inning for the win and Tejay Antone worked out of a jam in the ninth to pick up his second save.

Reds reliever Amir Garrett pitched the sixth inning in his first appearance after serving a five-game suspension.

Josh Fuentes and Connor Joe had three hits apiece, and Ryan McMahon and Yonathan Daza had two hits each for the Rockies, who led 6-1 after seven innings with a strong outing by Antonio Senzatela.

Senzatela allowed one run on four hits and struck out three in seven innings.

The Reds trailed by a run to start the ninth but rallied. Mychal Givens (1-2) loaded the bases with two outs, and a passed ball allowed Tucker Barnhart to score to tie it. Eugenio Suarez walked to reload the bases and Nick Senzel scored on a wild pitch to give Cincinnati the lead.

Antone got a game-ending double play with the tying run on third in the bottom of the ninth.

Cincinnati scored four times in the eighth. Yency Almonte loaded the bases with one out and Tyler Naquin hit a two-run single off Justin Lawrence. Suarez hit a sacrifice fly and consecutive singles from Tyler Stephenson and Akiyama made it a one-run game.

Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on an infield single by Akiyama.

Colorado scored five runs in the fourth. Ryan McMahon doubled, Garrett Hampson walked and both came home on a double by Fuentes.

Dom Nunez hit a ball down the right field line that was initially ruled a home run but was called foul after a review, and he settled for a walk.

Reds starter Jeff Hoffman's throwing error allowed Fuentes to score, a Raimel Tapia sacrifice fly and a double by Joe made it 5-1.

The Rockies scored their sixth run an inning later when Akiyama's errant throw in from left field allowed Fuentes to score.

Hoffman allowed five runs - two earned - on five hits and struck out five in four innings.
