Atlanta right-hander Julio Teheran continued his season-long mastery of the Miami Marlins on Wednesday, throwing seven scoreless innings in the Braves' 5-0 home win.

Teheran (8-8) gave up five hits, walked three and struck out a season-high nine. He improved to 3-0 with a 0.28 ERA in 32 innings against Miami this season.

He became only the fourth Atlanta pitcher to throw at least 25 innings and allow no more than one run against an opponent in one season. Pete Smith was the last to accomplish that feat, throwing 25 scoreless innings against the Chicago Cubs in 1988.

Atlanta got one scoreless inning apiece from relievers Sean Newcomb and Josh Tomlin to close out the game.

It was the 18th time the Marlins have been shut out this season. Miami lost its 11th straight road game.

Atlanta only scratched out three hits, but two left the ballpark. Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria and center fielder Ronald Acuna Jr. each supplied two-run homers.

Atlanta improved to 14-4 against Miami this season, tying the franchise record for most single-season victories against the Marlins. The Braves were 14-5 against Miami a year ago. Atlanta retained its six-game lead in the National League East over the Washington Nationals.

Miami starter Caleb Smith (8-7) went six innings and allowed five runs on three hits -- two of them home runs -- with four walks and seven strikeouts. Smith has allowed 53 runs this season, and 30 have come as the result of home runs. He also had two of Miami's seven hits, both doubles.

The Braves scored three runs after two outs in the second inning. Tyler Flowers banged a run-scoring triple off the right field wall to bring home Josh Donaldson with the first run. Hechavarria followed with a two-run homer, his sixth overall and first since joining the Braves.

Acuna added a two-run homer, his 36th, in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 5-0. It was Acuna's 16th career home run in 36 games against the Marlins.
