Bo Bichette hit his first career home run and Jacob Waguespack pitched six strong innings as the visiting Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals with a 4-1 victory Wednesday afternoon.

Bichette led off the eighth with a home run for a 3-1 lead. The touted shortstop prospect made his debut Monday against the Royals, and finished the series 6-for-9 with a double and a home run.

Waguespack (2-1) went six innings, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out two and walked two. Waguespack joined recent call-ups Thomas Pannone and Sean Reid-Foley as the Toronto starters limited the Royals to three earned runs in 17 innings in the three-game series.

Justin Shafer picked up his first career save with a scoreless ninth.

Kansas City starter Jakob Junis (6-10) gave up four runs on six hits in seven innings. He struck out six and walked two, allowing two home runs.

The Royals' first hit resulted in their first run. Cam Gallagher led off the third inning with a home run that just cleared the left field fence. It was Gallagher's second home run of the season. Gallagher is hitting .310 (9-for-29) since July 15, when starting catcher Martin Maldonado was traded to the Chicago Cubs.

Junis cruised early. After getting out of a first-inning jam when he stranded runners on second and third, he threw eight, eight, eight and 10 pitches in the next four innings.

The Blue Jays finally got a run in the sixth. Cavan Biggio drew a one-out walk, then stole second with two outs. Justin Smoak drove him in with an opposite-field single.

Freddy Galvis gave Toronto a 2-1 lead with a leadoff home run in the seventh. Galvis hit an 0-1 curveball 415 feet to almost straightaway center.

The Blue Jays out-homered the Royals 6-1 in the series and 18-4 in seven matchups this season. Toronto won the season series 6-1.
