Edwin Encarnacion's RBI double capped a five-run second inning as the New York Yankees recorded an 11-5 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday afternoon at sweltering Yankee Stadium.

On the 50th anniversary of Neil Armstrong becoming the first man to walk on the moon, the Yankees won their fifth straight, improved to 23-6 in their last 29 games, and improved to 14-0-1 in their last 15 home series on a 94-degree day with a heat index of 108.

Encarnacion had three RBIs while DJ LeMahieu and Gleyber Torres had three hits apiece.

The Rockies lost their sixth straight and dropped to 2-13 in their last 15 games.

The Yankees held a 1-0 lead on Aaron Judge's first-inning double and busted the game open by sending 11 men to the plate in a 34-minute second.

New York took a 2-0 lead when Didi Gregorius scored on a throwing error by Colorado starter Antonio Senzatela (8-7) when he tried to get Torres at second stretching a single. The Yankees took a 3-0 lead on Austin Romine's single and made it 4-0 on a run-scoring single by Aaron Hicks.

Encarnacion, who hit a grand slam Friday, made it 6-0 by slapping a double past the range of third baseman Nolan Arenado and down the left-field line that knocked out Senzatela.

The Yankees added three runs in the fourth off Chad Bettis on a single by Gregorius and a two-run base hit by Torres. New York added two runs in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Mike Tauchman and Encarnacion's single that fell in front of center fielder Ian Desmond.

Luke Voit scored on Torres hit after being hit in the face by a Bettis fastball. Voit was checked out by trainer by Steve Donahue, was later lifted from the game in the fifth for precautionary reasons, and underwent testing for a concussion and results came back clear.

Masahiro Tanaka (7-5) took a shutout in the sixth before allowing all five of his runs in the inning. He allowed seven hits in six innings with three strikeouts and one walk.

The Rockies scored five times in the sixth on Trevor Story's RBI double, Arenado's three-run homer to center field that bounced off the top of the fence and Desmond's single. After six straight hitters reached, Tanaka escaped further trouble by getting a groundout and a strikeout.

Senzatela allowed six runs on seven hits in 1 1/3 innings. It was his shortest career start and his ERA rose from 5.79 to 6.29.
