Garrett Cooper and Brian Anderson homered to lead the host Miami Marlins to a 12-7 victory over the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.

Rookie right-hander Jordan Yamamoto overcame a difficult second inning and remained undefeated through six major league starts. Yamamoto (4-0) allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits in five innings. He struck out four, walked two and retired the final eight batters he faced.

Harold Ramirez doubled twice, Cesar Puello went 2-for-3 and Yadiel Rivera had two hits and scored twice for Miami.

After squandering an early three-run advantage, the Marlins regained the lead with a four-run second off San Diego starter Logan Allen. Ramirez and Cooper keyed the rally with two-run hits.

Allen (2-2) allowed seven runs and seven hits in two-plus innings. The rookie left-hander has yielded 13 runs in his past two starts.

Miami extended its lead in the sixth on Miguel Rojas' run-scoring single and Starlin Castro's bases-loaded triple. Cooper hit his 11th home run, a solo blast off Padres reliever Robbie Erlin, in the eighth.

The loss extended San Diego's post-All Star break skid to four. Padres pitchers have allowed 10 runs or more 11 times this season.

Manny Machado, in his first game with the Padres in his hometown, went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

The Marlins struck quickly on Anderson's three-run homer run in the first. Anderson drove Allen's first-pitch slider over the wall in left-center field for his 13th homer.

The Padres erased the deficit with a three-run second. Ian Kinsler's bases-loaded single scored Hunter Renfroe, then Josh Naylor scored on Anderson's throwing error from right-field. Manuel Margot's RBI groundout tied it at 3.

Yamamoto allowed a leadoff walk to Machado and a Renfroe by single in the third before he retired Naylor on a double play and Francisco Mejia on a flyout to center.

Miami built a sufficient lead before San Diego scored three in ninth off reliever Adam Conley on Franmil Reyes' pinch-hit, two-run homer and Machado's run-scoring double.
