Hunter Renfroe hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the eighth inning and the visiting San Diego Padres defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 6-3 Friday night.

Toronto reliever Daniel Hudson (3-2) walked Manny Machado with one out in the eighth and threw errantly to second on Eric Hosmer's comebacker to put runners at the corners for Renfroe, who hit his 12th homer this season.

Matt Wisler (2-1) pitched one-third of an inning to get the win.

Robbie Erlin pitched a perfect eighth for the Padres. Craig Stammen came in for the ninth to earn his second save of the season after pitching around a hit batter and striking out one.

Austin Hedges and Greg Garcia also homered for the Padres.

Freddy Galvis and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. homered for the Blue Jays.

Padres left-hander Joey Lucchesi allowed three runs, three hits and one walk while striking out a career-best 11 batters in 6 2/3 innings.

Blue Jays right-hander Trent Thornton allowed three runs, four hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out a career-best 10.

Hedges hit his fifth homer this season with one out in the third. The Padres added a run in the inning when Franmil Reyes walked and Machado and Hosmer singled.

The Padres led 3-0 lead in the fifth on Garcia's second homer this season.

Toronto tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. Randal Grichuk gave the Blue Jays their first base runner of the game when he walked with one out. Galvis followed with his seventh homer of the season and Gurriel, recalled from Triple-A Buffalo Friday, hit his first homer this season.

The Blue Jays also called up Cavan Biggio, who was 0-for-3 in his major league debut Friday, and left-hander Thomas Pannone, who pitched one scoreless inning Friday, from Buffalo. Left-hander Zac Rosscup was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. Infielder Richard Urena and outfielder Billy McKinney were optioned to Buffalo, left-hander Ryan Feierabend was designated for assignment and right-hander Elvis Luciano went on the bereavement list.

The Padres selected infielder/outfielder Josh Naylor of nearby Mississauga, Ont., from Triple-A El Paso. He was 0-for-4 in his major league debut Friday. Outfielder Alex Dickerson (sprained wrist) was put on the injured list.
