Kyle Freeland pitched two-hit ball over seven innings to outduel Joe Musgrove, and the Colorado Rockies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0 on Monday night at Coors Field in Denver.

Freeland (10-7) didn't allow a run for the fifth time this season and tied a season high in innings pitched to help Colorado open a seven-game homestand with a win. He finished with five strikeouts and three walks.

Pittsburgh lost its third game in a row while the Rockies won their second straight. The game was delayed for 32 minutes in the bottom of the fifth inning by a fast-moving rainstorm.

Wade Davis retired the side in order in the ninth inning for his 32nd save in 38 chances. Davis had blown his two previous save opportunities during Colorado's 2-5 road trip that ended Sunday.

Musgrove cruised through the first four innings without allowing a baserunner before Nolan Arenado singled on the first pitch of the fifth inning as the rain picked up. Trevor Story followed with a single to center that allowed Arenado to get to third.

Gerardo Parra hit what looked like a double-play ball to second, but Josh Harrison bobbled it, and Arenado scored. After one pitch to Ian Desmond, the rain fell harder and the game went into a delay.

When play resumed, Musgrove hit Desmond with a pitch to load the bases, and Chris Iannetta's sacrifice fly drove in Story to make it 2-0.

Freeland popped out on a bunt attempt, and Parra was thrown out at home by right fielder Gregory Polanco while trying to score on David Dahl's single.

Dahl finished with two hits.

Freeland gave up a single to Corey Dickerson to lead off the game and a two-out double to Musgrove in the third, but those were Pittsburgh's only hits. The left-hander walked two batters in the fourth but retired the next eight batters, including four straight after the rain delay.

In his last inning, Freeland hit Francisco Cervelli with one out and then walked Harrison in an 11-pitch plate appearance. He got Mercer to line out to left to end the inning.

Musgrove (4-6) gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out two.

Seunghwan Oh set down the Pirates in order in the eighth before Davis did the same in the ninth.
