Jhoulys Chacin struck out a season-best nine in 5 2/3 innings and also contributed an RBI single as the Milwaukee Brewers recorded a 6-1 victory over the visiting Washington Nationals on Monday night.

Christian Yelich delivered a three-run triple and Erik Kratz drove in two runs for the Brewers, who won for just the second time in 10 games.

Chacin (9-3) gave up one run and two hits and didn't walk a batter. He has won three consecutive decisions.

Daniel Murphy homered for the Nationals, who have dropped four of their past six games.

Washington left-hander Gio Gonzalez (6-7) was charged with five runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings to lose his fifth consecutive decision. Gonzalez, who struck out five and walked five, is winless over his past nine outings.

Milwaukee scored two runs in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie, then added three more in the sixth.

The Brewers loaded the bases against Gonzalez with no outs in the fourth as Travis Shaw and Tyler Saladino drew walks and Hernan Perez singled to left field. Kratz's grounder plated a run to give Milwaukee a 2-1 lead, and Chacin followed with a ground single to left to make it a two-run margin.

Gonzalez retired the first two batters in the sixth before walking Kratz and allowing a single to pinch hitter Nate Orf. Right-hander Justin Miller walked pinch hitter Brett Phillips before the Nationals brought in left-hander Sammy Solis to face Yelich.

The count was full when the left-handed-hitting Yelich sent a bouncer down the first base line that eluded Washington's Ryan Zimmerman and rolled into the right field corner. Kratz, Orf and Phillips all scored as the Brewers took a 6-1 advantage.

Earlier, Murphy slammed a 0-1 splitter over the wall in right to lead off the second and give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.

Shaw led off the bottom of the second with a single and moved to third on Saladino's double. Shaw scored later in the inning on Kratz's tying sacrifice fly to left.
