ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves did it to Miami again, walking off for the fifth time against the Marlins this season.

Lane Adams hit a two-run homer off Vance Worley in the 11th inning to give the Braves a dramatic 10-8 victory over the beleaguered Marlins on Sunday.

It was the third walk-off victory for the Braves in the four-game series and their ninth of the season, with almost half of them coming against Miami.

"It's fun to get wins like this," said Adams, a reserve outfielder batting .281 with three homers in 68 games. "We've been battling back all year. I think when we're down late in a game we look at it as a challenge. Coming through in a big situation is what you play for."

Asked after the game if he could remember his last walk-off homer at any level, Adams said: "Yeah, it was about 25 minutes ago. This is the first one, ever. Ever."

The Marlins, who led by three runs going to the bottom of the ninth, have won just two of their past 14 games and are dealing with the havoc caused by Hurricane Irma.

"No one's going to feel bad for us," Marlins center fielder Christian Yelich. "We didn't do our job and that's what happens what you don't do your job."

"Obviously you're thinking about the hurricane before and after (the game). While you're actually in the box or on the field, you're not thinking about the weather. You're thinking about your job. Off the field, obviously you're thinking about Miami and all that. You can't use that as an excuse."

Tyler Flowers singled with one out in the 11th and then Adams hit the first pitch he saw from Worley (2-5) over the fence in left-center field.

Arodys Vizcaino (5-3) worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the 11th and got credit for the victory when Adams came through."

"We seem to like coming on late, which isn't a bad thing," Flowers said. "It would be nice if we could do more early, but coming on late is probably a little tougher with the arms in bullpens now days."

Dee Gordon extended his hitting streak to a career-best 14 games for the Marlins with his first career pinch-hit homer to break a 5-5 tie in the eighth inning, connecting against Jose Ramirez.

The Marlins added two nine-inning runs, but the Braves forced extra innings by scoring three times in the bottom of the ninth.

Rio Ruiz tied it with a two-run ground single to the opposite field after Johan Camargo drove in the first run with a single, both hits coming off Javy Guerra after Jarlin Garcia allowed two hits and a walk to start the inning.

"I was trying to win it, plain a simple, the first two swings," said Ruiz, who fell behind 1-2. "After that, it was grind mode. I choked up and tried to put the ball in play. Good things happen when you do."

J.T Realmuto had four hits and Yelich had three for the Marlins, with both players driving in two runs.

The Marlins scored three times in the second inning and twice in the fifth off Braves starter R.A. Dickey after Atlanta had scored five times in the third while sending 10 men to the plate.

Realmuto had a two-run double in the second, which began with three straight walks, and scored after getting the first of three consecutive singles by the Marlins in the fifth.

Dickey gave up six hits over five innings in his second straight rough outing. He allowed six runs in 4 1/3 innings against Texas in his previous outing and his ERA increased to 4.28.

Marlins starter Odrisamer Despaigne walked six in 3 2/3 innings, with half of the free passes coming in a five-run third by the Braves (63-79) that also included four hits. Flowers and Camargo both had two-run singles.

Giancarlo Stanton, who had two hits, kept the game tied in the seventh, crashing into the right field wall to deprive Camargo of extra bases and an RBI, and made a running catch at the warning track of a drive by Ozzie Albies in the 10th.

The Miami bullpen failed again, though, and the Braves improved to 7-3 for the season at home against Miami and 10-5 overall.

NOTES: The Marlins do not start a three-game series in Philadelphia until Tuesday, giving players and officials Monday to get updated information on damage around Miami from Hurricane Irma. ...
