HOUSTON -- George Springer clubbed his career-best 30th home run and was one of six starters to record multi-hit games in the Houston Astros' 12-8 interleague victory over the New York Mets in the opening game of a doubleheader on Saturday at Minute Maid Park.

Springer, who finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, drilled an 0-2 fastball from Mets right-hander Matt Harvey (4-4) out to left field in the second inning to extend the Houston lead to 6-0.

The Astros (81-53) plated four runs in the first inning off Harvey, who was making his first start since June 14 after being sidelined with a stress injury to the scapula bone in his shoulder.

Harvey allowed seven earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts over two innings, the shortest outing of his career. Harvey was on a pitch restriction and tossed 70 pitches.

Jose Altuve (3-for-4, three runs) and Josh Reddick (3-for-5, two RBIs) added three-hit games for the Astros, who played their first game at Minute Maid Park since Hurricane Harvey ravaged the Gulf Coast last weekend. J.D. Davis added his third homer in the fifth and finished 2-for-5.

Right-hander Charlie Morton (11-6) allowed two runs on six hits and one walk with nine strikeouts over five innings for the Astros.

Morton surrendered a two-run home run to Mets first baseman Dominic Smith in the fourth inning and, trailing 10-2 entering the seventh, New York pulled to within three runs when Wilmer Flores capped a five-run frame with a grand slam off Astros right-hander Will Harris. For Flores, it was his 18th home run on the season.

The Astros have won consecutive games for the first time since Aug. 18-19 against Oakland.

NOTES: Astros SS Carlos Correa will be reinstated from the disabled list on Sunday and will bat fourth. Correa underwent a series of tests on Saturday to complete his rehab. Including the doubleheader, he missed 42 games with a torn ligament in his left thumb. ... The Mets signed OF Norichika Aoki and he joined the club in Houston. Aoki, traded by the Astros to Toronto at the non-waiver deadline and released by the Blue Jays on Aug. 29, will wear No. 11. ... The Mets recalled RHP Jacob Rhame from Triple-A Las Vegas and selected the contract of RHP Jamie Callahan from Las Vegas. Rhame made his major league debut in the fifth inning.Callahan entered in relief in the seventh.
