PHOENIX -- Sean Rodriguez homered and drove in three runs and Gregory Polanco and Jordy Mercer also homered as the Pittsburgh Pirates ended the Arizona Diamondbacks' five-game winning streak with an 8-7 victory on Friday night at Chase Field.

Mercer and Josh Harrison had three hits and an RBI for the Pirates (9-8), who have won four of their last six.

The Pirates had seven homers entering the game, tied with the Angels for 28th in the majors.

Welington Castillo had his third career two-homer game and David Peralta homered for Arizona, which scored three times in the eighth but left the bases loaded. Castillo has five homers after hitting a career-high 19 in 2015.

Jean Segura had three hits and an RBI and Brandon Drury and starting pitcher Patrick Corbin had two hits and an RBI for Arizona (9-9), which was attempting to move two games above .500 for the first time since Sept. 25, 2013.

Castillo hit his second homer to lead off the three-run eighth, which was kept alive by shortstop Mercer's two-out fielding error that allowed a second run to score. Segura's infield field drove in a run to make it 8-7.

Mark Melcanon retired Yasmany Tomas on a groundout with the bases loaded to end the eighth and got four outs for his fourth save.

Pirates starter Jon Niese (3-0) gave up four runs and 10 hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked two while starting 3-0 for the first time in his career.

Corbin (1-2) gave up five runs (four earned) and seven hits in six innings.

Rodriguez homered with two outs after a one-out double by Harrison in the second and Polanco followed with his first homer of the season off the batter's eye in center field for a 3-0 lead.

Peralta's first homer of the season in the second made it 3-1.

Mercer led off the third inning with his first homer of the season and Harrison singled in Starling Marte with two outs for a 5-1 lead.

Corbin singled in the third and scored on Brandon Drury's one-out single to make it 5-2.

Castillo homered to lead off the fourth before Chris Owings tripled with two outs and scored on Corbin's hustle-double on a hard grounder to right-center field to trim the Pirates' lead to 5-4.
