NEW YORK -- The New York Mets are approximately 1/16th into the 2015 schedule, but it's not too early to begin making statements that this season won't be like the six that preceded it.

First baseman Lucas Duda remained red-hot at the plate Thursday night. His RBI single in the seventh inning snapped a tie and lifted the Mets to a come-from-behind 7-5 win over the Miami Marlins at Citi Field.

The Mets (7-3) have won five in a row, their first five-game winning streak since May 26-30, 2013. The victory also gave the Mets, who have endured six straight losing seasons and haven't reached the playoffs since 2006, sole possession of first place in the National League East for the first time since April 10, 2012.

"It's real early," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "But I like it a lot. There's a mentality you've got to have. I would say a year ago, we don't win tonight."

The Marlins took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run homer by right fielder Giancarlo Stanton and went up 3-0 on third baseman Martin Prado's homer in the fourth. But the Mets tied it in the fifth, when shortstop Wilmer Flores' three-run homer capped an eight-pitch rally.

"I put us in a hole early on," said Mets right-hander Dillon Gee, who allowed four runs, five hits and two walks while striking out seven in 5 2/3 innings. "But you could just sense that we thought we would come back."

The Marlins went ahead in the sixth, when center fielder Marcell Ozuna drew a bases-loaded walk, but they were robbed of a big inning when right fielder Curtis Granderson caught catcher J.T. Realmuto's fly ball as he ran into the wall.

In the bottom of the inning, left fielder Michael Cuddyer had an RBI single and third baseman Eric Campbell delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly. But the Marlins tied the score in unusual fashion in the seventh when Ichiro Suzuki, who tripled as a pinch-hitter, was initially ruled out at the plate on second baseman Dee Gordon's grounder to second.

The ruling was overturned after a review of 5:44 found that Suzuki was not tagged by catcher Travis d'Arnaud and that he touched the plate a second before d'Arnaud dived back to tag him.

"Games like tonight, where you get down, claw your way, get down again and claw your way and end up winning a game, that does lay the foundation of belief," Cuddyer said.

The sixth- and seventh-inning rallies by the Mets were examples of the type of patient baseball they need to play in spacious Citi Field.

Duda led off the sixth with a double and scored on Cuddyer's single before second baseman Daniel Murphy grounded out to second to move Cuddyer to third. Campbell followed with an eight-pitch at-bat that ended with a sacrifice fly to left.

In the seventh, pinch-hitter John Mayberry drew a one-out walk and stole second. Granderson followed with his 11th walk of the season, the most in the majors. One out later, Duda singled softly to left to score Mayberry. Cuddyer followed with an infield single to bring home Granderson.

"That's when you know things are going well, when everybody contributes," Duda said. "Hopefully, we can continue to play like this and keep it rolling."

Left-hander Jerry Blevins, the third of five Mets pitchers, posted the win after getting the final two outs of the seventh. Right-hander Jeurys Familia worked a perfect ninth for his fourth save.

Stanton and Prado had two hits apiece for the Marlins (3-7), who had a two-game winning streak snapped. The homer by Stanton was the team-record 155th of his career, breaking a tie with former Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla.

"I'll enjoy it later -- 3-7 the only record I know right now," said Stanton, who signed a 13-year, $325 million contract extension with the Marlins in November. "I'll keep it going, make it hard to beat."
