Mets 4, Diamondbacks 2 (Game 2):
Anthony Recker recorded his first career four-hit performance and scored the go-ahead run as host New York earned a split of a doubleheader.

Daniel Murphy went 3-for-4 with an RBI single, Bobby Abreu added a run-scoring double and pinch hitter Ruben Tejada singled in the deciding run as the Mets won for only the third time in 11 games. Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-0), making his first start of the season after 14 relief appearances, gave up two runs and struck out six over six innings before Game 1 loser Jenrry Mejía got the final three outs for his third save.

Martin Prado had an RBI triple and scored a run for Arizona, which was denied its first series sweep in New York since 2002. Zeke Spruill (0-1) permitted three runs on 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings in his season debut for the Diamondbacks.

Arizona's Aaron Hill led off the second inning with a single and came home on a triple by Prado, who scored on a groundout by Cody Ross. The Mets got back a run in the bottom of the frame on Matsuzaka's broken-bat single over shortstop for his first career RBI.

Abreu sliced a double down the left-field line in the fifth inning to plate the tying run for New York, which went ahead in the sixth on Recker's leadoff double and Tejada's single. The Mets had a chance to build on the lead, but Diamondbacks left fielder Ender Inciarte threw out Tejada at home plate on David Wright's single.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wright extended his hitting streak to nine games for the Mets, who are 6-for-44 with the bases loaded this season and have no hits or RBIs in their last nine at-bats in such situations. ... Backup C Tuffy Gosewisch has hit safely in his last five games for the Diamondbacks, who return home to open a three-game series with San Diego on Monday. ... LF Eric Young Jr., who turned 29 on Sunday, was not available due to a hamstring injury and is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list by the Mets, who continue their homestand Monday with the first of three games against Pittsburgh.
