Padres 3, Giants 1: Everth Cabrera smacked a tiebreaking triple and Eric Stults pitched six strong innings as host San Diego defeated San Francisco for the second straight night.

Yonder Alonso contributed a run-scoring single and three relievers blanked the Giants over the final three innings as the Padres won for the seventh time in 10 games. Joaquin Benoit worked a perfect ninth for his first save as San Diego evened its record at 9-9.

Stults (1-2) gave up one run and three hits in six innings in his best outing of the season. San Francisco’s Tim Hudson (2-1) allowed two runs and eight hits in seven innings to drop to 6-2 against the Padres.

Alexi Amarista reached on a bunt single in the fifth and moved to second on a throwing error by Hudson and to third on a sacrifice bunt by Stults. Cabrera followed with a line triple into the right-center field gap to give San Diego a 2-1 lead and the Padres added an insurance run in the eighth when Chris Denorfia’s suicide-squeeze bunt scored Will Venable.

The Padres struck first on a second-inning single by Alonso and the Giants knotted the score on Michael Morse’s homer to center in the fifth. Nick Vincent struck out the side in the seventh, Dale Thayer worked a scoreless eighth and Benoit sailed through the ninth on seven pitches while filling in for closer Huston Street, who was unavailable after throwing 31 pitches Friday.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hudson has yet to walk a batter in 30 innings this season. … Padres 3B Chase Headley (biceps) was 1-for-4 after missing three consecutive starts. … The two-run margin snapped a streak of eight straight one-run games for the Giants, matching a mark set in 1910 when the franchise resided in New York.
