Pirates 2, Giants 1: Starling Marte tripled and scored on an errant throw in the bottom of the ninth inning as host Pittsburgh ended San Francisco's six-game winning streak.

Marte lined a shot off the right-field wall with two outs in the ninth and he initially was called out at the plate after trying to score when second baseman Ehire Adrianza's throw to third got away. Pirates manager Clint Hurdle challenged the call at the plate and it was ruled Marte got his right hand in before catcher Buster Posey's tag.

Tony Watson (3-0) earned the win after working out of a jam to strand two runners in the top of the ninth. Marte had two hits and scored both Pittsburgh runs and Ike Davis also had two hits for the Pirates.

Giants starter Tim Hudson (4-2) took the tough-luck loss, allowing two runs — one earned — on five hits in a complete game. He gave up a leadoff single to Andrew McCutchen in the ninth but got a double-play ball from Pedro Alvarez before Marte's wild game-winner.

The Giants struck first on Adrianza's sacrifice fly in the second, but Pittsburgh answered in the bottom of the inning when Marte scored on Tony Sanchez's groundout. Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford each singled against Watson in the ninth before Adrianza popped out to end the threat.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hudson is the first Giants pitcher since Vida Blue in 1981 to go at least seven innings in his first seven starts of the season. … Pirates starter Charlie Morton went eight innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits. … The Giants fell to 16-2 when they score first.
