Padres 5, Phillies 4: Alexi Amarista belted a two-run homer among his three hits and Ian Kennedy snapped a three-start winless skid as host San Diego defeated Philadelphia for the second straight day.

Rymer Liriano had three hits and scored on Jedd Gyorko's pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth for the Padres, who posted just their fourth win in 13 contests. Will Venable had an RBI single and scored a run in the victory.

Freddy Galvis launched a two-run homer and Domonic Brown added a solo shot for the Phillies, who have dropped three in a row and seven of their last 10. A.J. Burnett (8-17) allowed five runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings to suffer his ninth loss in 11 decisions and became the first Philadelphia pitcher to lose 17 games since Mark Leiter in 1997.

After Galvis' blast gave the Phillies a 3-2 advantage in the fifth, Amarista answered in the following frame by depositing a 2-2 curveball from Burnett into the seats in right field for his fourth homer. Gyorko replaced Cory Spangenberg at the plate three batters later and lined a single to left to give San Diego a 5-3 lead.

The late uprising made a winner out of Kennedy (11-13), who improved to 3-2 in his career versus Philadelphia after yielding three runs on as many hits while striking out seven. Two relievers bridged the gap to Kevin Quackenbush, who worked around Darin Ruf's RBI single in the ninth for his fourth save.
