Yankees 10, Rays 2: CC Sabathia was strong through seven innings and visiting New York recorded nine extra-base hits and a triple play in a rout of Tampa Bay.

Alfonso Soriano and Brian McCann hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning, Brian Roberts fell a home run shy of the cycle and drove in two runs and Yangervis Solarte capped a three-hit night with his first career home run for the Yankees, who have won five straight. Sabathia (2-2) allowed one earned run and seven hits while striking out six in his first win at Tampa Bay since April 10, 2010.

Rays ace David Price (2-1) took the brunt of the damage, giving up six runs and 10 hits in five innings. Sean Rodriguez slugged a solo homer to highlight a Tampa Bay attack that has produced a total of seven runs during a four-game slide.

McCann had an RBI single in the first, and Roberts and Ellsbury tripled in runs in the second before Derek Jeter singled in Ellsbury to make it 4-0. The first two Tampa Bay hitters reached in the bottom half but Rodriguez hit a grounder to Solarte at third, who stepped on the bag to begin New York's third triple play in the last five seasons, each of which have come with Sabathia on the mound.

Soriano and McCann belted solo shots off changeups from Price to make it 6-1 and Roberts doubled and came in on Ellsbury's sacrifice fly in the sixth. Roberts added a run-scoring hit one inning later and Solarte cranked a two-run shot in the ninth as the Yankees scored in double digits for the first time this year.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Price entered with a 3.26 ERA in 10 home starts versus New York, while Sabathia was 1-7 with a 4.75 ERA in 11 starts at Tropicana Field since joining the Yankees. ... Sabathia won his 207th career game, tying him with Hal Newhouser for 25th on the all-time list among left-handers. ... McCann has three homers and a double in his last four games after failing to produce an extra-base hit in his first 10 games as a Yankee.
