Athletics 6, Mets 2: Coco Crisp ripped a bases-clearing triple to cap a four-run fourth inning as host Oakland snapped a season-worst five-game losing streak.

Josh Reddick belted a two-run homer and Derek Norris added two hits and scored twice as the Athletics improved to a major league-best 41-21 at home to remain a half-game behind the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West. Scott Kazmir (14-5) struck out six and allowed one run on four hits to set a career high for wins.

Travis d'Arnaud homered and Anthony Recker contributed a run-scoring double for New York, which absorbed its third straight defeat and sixth in eight games. Dillon Gee (4-6) gave up four runs and eight hits over 5 2/3 innings to fall to 0-5 over his last seven starts.

D'Arnaud opened the scoring with a leadoff homer in the fourth but the Athletics answered with four in the bottom of the inning, loading the bases before Alberto Callaspo delivered a sacrifice fly. Gee walked No. 9 hitter Eric Sogard to reload the bases and Crisp made him pay by drilling a high fastball down the right-field line to plate three more runs for 4-1 edge.

New York halted its five-game streak with four hits or fewer when Wilmer Flores led off the seventh with a double off Ryan Cook and came home on Recker's one-out double. Oakland got those runs back in the eighth when Reddick connected on a two-run shot that barely cleared the wall in right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Crisp boosted his career batting average against the Mets to .370 in 12 games. ... Mets RHP Jacob deGrom, sidelined since Aug. 8 with tendinitis in his rotator cuff, threw a live bullpen session Tuesday and said he expects to come off the 15-day disabled list to start Saturday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. ... Struggling Athletics RHP Jason Hammel will skip his scheduled turn in this weekend's showdown against the Angels and return to the rotation next week against Houston.
