Padres 6, Mets 0: All-Star Tyson Ross worked seven stellar innings while Yasmani Grandal, Will Venable and Seth Smith led off frames with home runs as host San Diego evened the three-game series at one win apiece.

Grandal finished with two hits and Chase Headley added an RBI single among his two hits for the Padres, who won for just the third time in 11 contests. Ross (8-10) allowed four singles and walked three while striking out six en route to his second victory in nine starts.

All-Star Daniel Murphy provided the lone extra-base hit with a double in the eighth for the Mets, who had their four-game winning streak snapped while losing for only the third time in 12 games. Dillon Gee (4-2) registered eight strikeouts but yielded four runs on five hits over five innings, marking the first time in seven outings he gave up more than three runs.

Grandal began San Diego's power display by opening the second inning with his eighth blast of the season. Venable began the fourth with a shot to right and Smith greeted reliever Carlos Torres with his team-leading 11th homer in the sixth.

The Padres scored twice on the same play in the third as Ross crossed the plate on Headley's single and Alexi Amarista came home when Mets left fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis' throw to third went into the dugout. Ross kept New York hitless until Travis d'Arnaud led off the fifth with an infield single and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the seventh by striking out Ruben Tejada before being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the frame.
