Yankees 4, Mets 0: Masahiro Tanaka pitched a four-hitter for his first major-league shutout as the visiting Yankees halted a four-game losing streak.

Yangervis Solarte and Mark Teixeira clubbed solo homers and Brian Roberts had a pair of triples and an RBI as the Yankees ended a string of six consecutive losses to the Mets in the Subway Series. Tanaka (6-0) also notched his first career hit in winning his third straight outing to improve to 34-0 over his last 42 regular-season starts dating to August 2012 in Japan.

Mets right-hander Rafael Montero (0-1) pitched six innings in his major-league debut, permitting three runs on five hits. Eric Young Jr. doubled for the Mets, who were stymied by Tanaka after amassing 21 runs in taking both games at Yankee Stadium on Monday and Tuesday.

The Yankees pushed across a run in the second when Solarte drew a two-out walk and scored when left fielder Young Jr. made an ill-advised dive on Roberts' line drive that went for three bases. Solarte extended his hitting streak to nine games in the fourth, drilling his fourth homer down the right-field line for a 2-0 lead.

Teixeira led off the sixth inning with his eighth homer - and third during a five-game hitting streak - before the Yankees tacked on a run in the seventh when Brett Gardner reached on an infield hit, stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Derek Jeter's dribbler in front of home plate. Mets third baseman David Wright went 0-for-4 and had his 11-game hitting streak snapped.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tanaka became the first Yankees rookie to win his first six decisions since Whitey Ford started 9-0 in 1950. ... The Mets placed RHP Dillon Gee on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained right lat muscle and announced the release of closer Kyle Farnsworth after Wednesday's game. Mets RHP Jacob deGrom will take Gee's place in the starting rotation and make his major-league debut Thursday against the Yankees. ... Roberts became the first Yankee to record two triples in a game since current Mets RF Curtis Granderson had a pair on April 15, 2010. ... Mets pitchers are 0-for-64 at the plate to start the season, tying the 1946 Cleveland Indians for the second-longest drought in history.
