Giants 3, Brewers 1: Jake Peavy carried a no-hitter into the eighth inning and Michael Morse drove in two runs as host San Francisco won its fifth straight game.

Mark Reynolds delivered a soft single to right with one out, four days after the Giants' Madison Bumgarner took a perfect game into the eighth against Colorado. Peavy (4-13) yielded one hit, struck out eight, walked three and hit a batter in shutout 7 2/3 innings, improving to 3-4 with a 2.66 ERA in seven starts with the Giants.

Morse delivered a two-run double and scored on Brandon Crawford's single as San Francisco scored three runs in the fourth, which was enough for Peavy and the bullpen. The Giants are two games clear in the National League wild card race while moving to within 2 1/2 of Los Angeles in the West.

Mike Fiers (4-2) had a four-start winning streak snapped after allowing three runs and striking out nine in seven innings as Milwaukee's lead in the National League Central over St. Louis was trimmed to one game. The Brewers had runners on first and second with two out in the eighth before Sergio Romo struck out Carlos Gomez.

Crawford kept the gem alive in the seventh when he snared Scooter Gennett's hard-hit grounder up the middle with a full-extension dive and flipped the ball with his glove to Joe Panik, who completed the inning-ending double play. Peavy struck out Jean Segura after allowing the hit before leaving to a thunderous ovation.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Santiago Casilla allowed Jonathan Lucroy's major league-leading 46th double and Ryan Braun's RBI single to start the ninth, and hit Khris Davis with two out before earning his 12th save in 13 chances since taking over the full-time closer's role last month. ... Peavy became the 72nd pitcher in major-league history to reach 2,000 strikeouts (2,005), joining active players CC Sabathia (2,437), A.J. Burnett (2,337), Bartolo Colon (2,082), Ryan Dempster (2,075) and teammate Tim Hudson (2,002). ... The Giants won a series against a team with a winning record for the first time since taking three of four in St. Louis from May 29-June 1.
