Rays 5, Brewers 1: Ben Zobrist homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs to back eight dominant innings from Alex Cobb as host Tampa Bay won for the 11th time in 12 games.

Zobrist's tiebreaking RBI double ignited a four-run eighth inning to reward a sensational effort by Cobb (7-6), who struck out a season-high 12 while allowing one run on three hits to improve to 5-0 in his last six starts. Pinch-hitter Logan Forsythe delivered an RBI double and Brandon Guyer added a run-scoring infield single as the Rays moved within a game of .500 for the first time since April 23.

Scooter Gennett drove in the lone run with a sacrifice fly for slumping Milwaukee, which absorbed its third straight defeat and fourth in five games. The National League Central leaders wasted seven frames of one-run ball by Matt Garza before Will Smith (1-3) was tagged for four runs on two hits and three walks in one-third of an inning.

Sean Rodriguez opened the eighth by drawing a leadoff walk from Smith, moved to second on a sacrifice and third on a wild pitch before Zobrist doubled him home to put Tampa Bay ahead 2-1. Forsythe's double plated Zobrist and a pair of walks - one intentional - loaded the bases to end Smith's night in favor of Marco Estrada, who gave up Guyer's RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Cole Figueroa.

All-Star Aramis Ramirez led off the fifth with a single off Cobb and Khris Davis followed with a walk before slugger Mark Reynolds advanced both runners with his first sacrifice in six years, setting up Gennett's sacrifice fly. Zobrist tied it with two out in the sixth, hammering an inside fastball down the right-field line and into the seats.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Zobrist's blast, his second in four days, extended his hitting streak to five games. ... Reynolds' sacrifice in the fifth inning was the third of his career and first since July 26, 2008. ... Rays LHP David Price, the subject of numerous trade rumors, is scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale against Brewers RHP Yovani Gallardo. ... Rays SS Yunel Escobar was ejected in the eighth inning for arguing balls and strikes.
